Welcome to our "Do It Yourself" series from the Apache Junction Public Library. The Youth Department has developed these DIYs to encourage you to take time to interact, bond and encourage your child's development.
Splash Water, Play! is one of our most entertaining programs for little ones! Did you know it's easy to do by yourself at home? Click on the DIY image below or click here to be taken to a PDF file with instructions for having fun with water! Feel free to Remember to supervise children at all times around water.

Tricky Treat Scavenger Hunt 2013
Our staff, Teen Advisory Board volunteers, and patrons had a great time at our 2013 Tricky Treat Scavenger Hunt!
This fun event allows kids to explore the library and find locations they may not have known existed! This year, kids looked for our fireplace (in the Mystery Room in the North Wing), Nemo (in the fishtank by our main entrance), the slide (at the playground) and more. As they found each clue, our Teen Advisory Board members passed out candy and other fun treats.
We also had representatives from the Renaissance Festival, as well as the Apache Junction Police Department processing Child Find and fingerprints. McDuff the Crime Dog even made an appearance!
It was great to see everyone's costumes and we can't wait for next year's event!

Summer Reading Has Arrived!
Keep track of reading by marking off a space on the log for each book read, every 20 minutes spent reading or every 30 pages read. Come in periodically to pick up prizes - and when kids finish, they can enter into a drawing for some even bigger prizes.
We also have some great events going on this summer for children, tweens, and teens. Check out our homepage for more information on each of these events. No registration is required for any event except for the Harry Potter Palooza on July 17.
We also have summer reading programs for teens and adults. Teens can log their reading online here, while adults can fill out a drawing entry (available at the library) for each six hours they read this summer.
We hope to see you here!

Star Wars Day - May the 4th Be With You!
On May 4th, the Apache Junction Public Library hosted Star Wars Day -
May the 4th Be With You. Visitors of all ages could enjoy Yoda soda,
create lightsabers, make Yoda origami, craft Yoda ears and Princess Leia
headbands, and more. The highlight of the day was definitely visits
from the 501st Dune Sea Garrison and the Mandalorian Mercs, who took time out of a very busy day to sign autographs and spend time with our patrons.
Check out a slideshow below of photos from the day. This was lots of fun and we can't wait to do it again!

Splash Water Play! Pictures
Yesterday, we hosted Splash Water Play!, one of our favorite events.
This event allows kids to learn about the properties of water while having fun at the same time. It's easy to replicate at home, too - you just need a hose, buckets, toys and, of course, adult supervision.
Enjoy some photos from the day below:
